Andrey Tretyak is a Kazakhstan-based web developer, the operator of VIA DEV, and the named author and editor responsible for HomeLabFix. His work combines web development, technical support, self-hosted infrastructure, and source-driven troubleshooting.
Technical background
Through VIA DEV, Andrey develops and maintains websites and custom internal web services for organizations. The work includes website maintenance, application and database-backed tools, remote technical support, and the practical infrastructure needed to keep those systems available.
HomeLabFix is also a software project he maintains. The site is built with Next.js and TypeScript, deployed as a static site through Cloudflare Pages, and developed through GitHub with CI, automated tests, structured-content validation, source validation, internal-link checks, and browser tests.
His own homelab work includes Synology NAS administration and remote-access networking with tools such as Tailscale and WireGuard. Andrey is responsible for the final scope, wording, safety boundaries, source selection, and publication decision for HomeLabFix articles. Why HomeLabFix exists
Vendor documentation explains products and features. HomeLabFix reorganizes that material around failure states: what a user can observe, which check separates competing explanations, what the result proves, what it does not prove, and when a different diagnostic path is required.
The diagnostic sequence, scope boundaries, evidence mapping, uncertainty handling, risk labels, and recovery prerequisites are the editorial contribution. The goal is to make troubleshooting more reproducible and less dependent on guesswork.
